Wow, your article clearly distilled the entire convoluted history of Batman into a form I could clearly understand. I have read The Dark Knight Returns and The Killing Joke, and am looking to get into Arkham Asylum. I was looking to understand the arc of Batman as a character, but your analysis made it entirely clear for me. Thanks!

I disagree with you in more ways than one. For one, I was highly dissappointed with Bela Karolyi, a gymnastic legend and spokesperson, to speak so badly about a gymnastic team that were up against his own favored USA team with such ease. He should have separated his personal and professional opinion and avoid being biased. He also failed to acknowledge the Chinese gymnastics team at all and continued rambling about his ignorant and rather biased personal opinion.

Please consider reading the links below.

I have no further comment regarding the team finals and the vault once you read the link listed above.

As for the uneven bar competition, did you even watch Yang Yilin's routine? She was obviously underscored and even Liukin expressed the same opinion--her reaction after seeing Yilin's score said so, too. I believed, and still do, that Yang Yilin should have won the gold anyway. As for the tiebreaker, that rule was passed years ago. What confuse me is that people force the 'age qualifcation' against the Chinese gymnasts with no valid proofs but questions the 'tiebreaker rule' when it's forced against the USA team. Contradicting, isn't?

great article. however, we don't know if carla jean refuses to "call it" (in fact, in the book she calls it, and calls it wrong). this is a relatively pessimistic view of life on earth, told using christian symbolism (initials for example: anton chigurh (ANTi CHrist?), carla jean: C.J or maybe J.C (someone who dies for other's sin)? "father" guiding the way in the valley of darkness in a dream...etc)
cormac and coens play with these symbols a lot. the bottom line is, it's a story of the bad, the good, and the undecided who is caught in between, leaning more easily towards the bad side, without knowing it.
the message could be that this is the land of the devil and god, and man should be very clear about which side he belongs to or he gets it one way or another...

There's a typo there; it should read "technical skill and hometown advantage."

Yes, the extra twist in the Jaeger counts to me as part of his overall technical skill. He bumped up his difficulty and pulled it off. I'd consider that skill.

The hometown advantage is undeniable. I know there are not even any Chinese judges on the panel when China competes, but the cheers from tens thousands of people when a gymnast performs definitely have at least a subconscious effect on everyone in that room.

He completely deserved gold, and I'm not trying to deny that. Like I said, I said he had an advantage due to his skill level- both starting value and execution.

Actually, Kai's advantage was his added twist to that Jaeger (his start value was bumped up to an A-score of 7.2). Don't try to twist things into something they're clearly not in this event. Don't even try.
